There’s still time to book a seat as the Brigantes Orchestra musical world tour moves on to Germany and Austria.

The Brigantes Orchestra, recently a finalist in the Sheffield Lord Mayor’s Awards for its work with local schools, is Sheffield’s own professional orchestra.

The orchestra’s current season at Sheffield Cathedral is its biggest to date - this year there are six concerts featuring classical greats from around the world creating a truly global musical experience.

And the fourth stop on the travel-inspired journey, which comes to the cathedral on March 21, will put the spotlight on the music of Germany and Austria.

Included in the evening’s programme is Richard Wagner’s Parsifal, Mendelssohn’s early symphony commemorating 300 years of the German Reformation and, tying everything together, two re-workings of pieces by the master, JS Bach.

“Austria and Germany have brought us some of the most important composers in the history of music, including Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Haydn,” said Brigantes founder and Musical Director Quentin Clare.

“Our fourth stop brings a programme dabbling in the Reformation and the legacy of the possibly the greatest of them all, JS Bach.”

Still to come in the season is a British celebration - including some Last Night of the Proms favourites - on May 16 and a finale which takes in some of the greats of the American repertoire on June 20.
