Open Up Sheffield 2021 is in its 23rd year and is open for applications, supporting artists with a reduced fee and a discount for newly established artists.

Open Up Sheffield is one of the largest and most successful open studio events outside London, run by a dedicated team of volunteers, all of whom are practicing artists and craftspeople, headed by ‘Open Up’ Chair Annette Petch.

Annette Petch said: “Open Up 2019’s artwork comprised watercolour, oil and acrylic paints, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, crafts, wood, glass, photography, print and mixed media.

"There were workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions across the two weekends and a chance to talk to participating artists. Many visitors bought a unique piece of artwork and some even commissioned a bespoke piece.”

With no event last year, Open Up Sheffield 2021 is going to be a bit different. Instead of being held over two weekends in May, it will be an online event over the whole of May.

Artists will have their own dedicated page accessed via the Open Up Sheffield website with up to eight photographs featuring their artwork, along with information about the artist, virtual studio, demonstrations and artwork tours (if the artist wants to include these), contact details, whether the artist will be open to visits by appointment and whether the artist would make appointments to chat to people via Zoom.

In addition, all featured artists will have their pages left up on the Open Up Sheffield website for up to a year with the artist being able to update and upload more content for people to access and browse.

The closing date for individual applications is March 21.

As Open Up will be an online event, it will not be open for application from groups.
