Armed South Yorkshire thug forced his way into ex-partner's home and fired BB gun

Sheffield Crown Court heard on February 3 how Stephen Pentelow, aged 37, of Racecommon Road, Barnsley, forced his way into his former partner’s home with a BB gun.
James Gould, prosecuting, said Pentelow visited the property with another person and pushed a male friend of his ex-partner’s who pushed him back before Pentelow’s ex-partner told the defendant to leave.

Hide AdPentelow shouted threats and used force, according to Mr Gould, before he exposed his gun and discharged a pellet and damaged a window.
Mr Gould said Pentelow pulled the trigger again and his former partner sustained an injury to her side.
Another man inside the property helped to stop the defendant getting inside, according to Mr Gould, and the door was closed.
Pentelow, who has previous convictions, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, a common assault, and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence after the incident on August 27, 2019.

Hide AdRichard Canning, defending, said Pentelow has been subject to a curfew and the defendant has not been involved in any other problems.
Judge Sarah Wright told Pentelow: “On August 27, 2019, you barged into your former partner’s home causing a disturbance, assaulting her friend and discharging a BB gun and then firing it directly at your former partner.”
Judge Wright sentenced Pentelow to a two-year community order with a Rehabilitation Actvity Requirement and a four-month curfew. She also imposed a ten-year restraning order.
