Police made enquiries and it was made known to them that Thomas had been in a car park with the knife shouting at people to leave and one witness said they had seen him hacking at a tree with the knife.

Thomas, who has previous convictions, pleaded guilty to affray and to possessing a bladed article in a public place after the incident on June 20, 2020.

Francis Edusei, defending, who indicated Thomas has mental health issues, told the court: “Mercifully, it was a brief incident. When asked to drop the knife by police he did.

“He will say he was remonstrating with someone who had caused him some aggravation in the past."
