The Owls take on Birmingham City in a bottom-of-the-table clash this afternoon as both teams look to try and get one over on a side that is well and truly in the Championship relegation scrap this season.

Wednesday lost their last game 1-0 after Steven Fletcher grabbed a late winner for Stoke earlier in the week, while Birmingham were beaten 2-0 by Millwall as their run of six games without a win continued in London.

Today the Owls are back at Hillsborough for the first time since the win over Wycombe Wanderers on February 9th following the postponement of their clash with Swansea City, and Neil Thompson says that the field should be alright.

He told The Star when asked, “It should be absolutely fine… The training ground is soft at the minute so there’s been no issues there.”

Wednesday are looking to make it six home wins on the spin and potentially climb out of the relegation zone, however they will face a Brum side that are also fighting for their lives as they too know that they can jump above the bottom three with victory.

‘Thommo’ is still without a number of key players such as Massimo Luongo (thigh) and Andre Green (Achilles), while Aitor Karanka is waiting to see whether Sam Cosgrove and Harlee Dean will be deemed fit enough to make an appearance after a couple of knocks this week.
