15 more patients with Covid-19 die at hospitals in Sheffield and South Yorkshire

A further 15 patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died in Sheffield and South Yorkshire hospitals according to the latest statistics.

The most recent data released this afternoon (January 22) from NHS England shows four more patents with the disease died in Sheffield hospitals bringing the total to 721.

Barnsley hospitals recorded six more deaths bringing the total to 488 and there were six more deaths at Doncaster hospitals where the total is now 648.

The Government said a further 1,401 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 95,981.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 112,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

There have been a further 40,261 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
