Kane, 27, ended his long association with Chelsea by joining West London rivals QPR on a three-year deal.
However, six months prior, Kane had agreed a move to Bramall Lane but had the Blues and Gonzalo Higuain to blame as the deal fell through.
The promotion-chasing Blades identified Kane as a target during his loan spell at Hull City – one of eight temporary moves away from Stamford Bridge in just six years.
Of course, United went to seal automatic promotion to the Premier League, which has left Kane reminiscing on what could have been.
“I was at Hull on loan and Chris Wilder had been talking to me on the phone about me going there,” he told The Sun.
“It had all been agreed but Chelsea submitted the paperwork too late because they were busy getting the Gonzalo Higuaín loan from Juventus across the line first.
“I’d have been part of the Sheffield United team that got promoted and could’ve been playing Premier League football there now.”
