Sheffield is a top 10 city in the United Kingdom for beautiful homes, a recent study has revealed, beating Leeds and York but trailing Manchester.

The study, by insurance company Alan Boswell, placed Sheffield as the sixth place city, using the number of “pins” and “boards” on the image-sharing platform, Pinterest, to create an “aesthetic home score”. Sheffield scored 7.97 out of 10, with over 11,000 pins and 79 boards.

Above Sheffield in the list was first-placed London, Bristol in second, Birmingham in third and in joint fourth-place were Manchester and Edinburgh. The Steel City was the highest ranking city in Yorkshire, beating both York (ninth) and Leeds (joint-fourteenth).

The 11,087 pins Sheffield had accumulated on Pinterest was the third most of any city in the top 15, with only Bristol (13,425 pins) and London (68,531 pins) receiving more. The study was carried out after analysis of Google Trends showed a 50 per cent surge for the search phrase “most beautiful city in UK”.
