ADMIRING their own handiwork are the youngsters who created a bright and vibrant artistic display to celebrate the opening of a new South Yorkshire health and social care centre.
More than 120 children and young people in Grimethorpe, Barnsley, got together to ensure patients and staff at the village's new health centre enjoy special surroundings.
The two large pieces of artwork feature microscopic images of the body and a landscape of Grimethorpe representing the past, present and future.
Pupils from Ladywood and Milefield primary schools, Willowgarth High secondary, members of the NSPCC after school project and the Grimethorpe Activity Zone, were involved in the project.
Peter Deakin, local artist who worked with the youngsters on the project said: "The end result is fantastic.
"The young people have helped to create a piece of artwork that celebrates their local history and also looks to the future.
"They should be proud of their achievement as it will bring pleasure to many of the people who use the health centre."
"We are delighted with our new artwork," added Diana Wells, practice manager.
"It really helps to brighten up the environment for our patients and is a cheering influence on the staff whilst they are at work."
