THESE budding artists proudly display their trophies after being honoured by the Lord Mayor for winning titles in the Sheffield's Young Painters Of The Year contest.
Lining up in front of their pictures, which ranged from self portraits to abstract designs, were Oscar Ives-Owen, Kalunga Chisenga, Liam Kirk, Alison Andrew, Anna Quincey and William Yardley.

They were presented with silver salvers by first citizen, Coun Arthur Dunworth, which will be displayed at their schools.

The winners and runners-up also received brass plaques.

The presentations were made at the start of an exhibition of 627 paintings from the competition, held at Ponds Forge. Entrants were from 57 organisations including six independent and four special schools.

The contest was established in 2005 by the vocational committee of the Rotary Club of Abbeydale and all schools in Sheffield are invited to take part.

The art will also be on display at the Great Sheffield Art Show, The Octagon, Western Bank, from July 11 to 13, and at the Art in the Gardens event, Botanical Gardens, Broomhill, on September 6 and 7.
