PRIMARY school pupils donned white coats and stethoscopes for a medical challenge at the University of Sheffield.
The youngsters from Birley Community Primary School, on Hayfield Crescent, visited the university to learn more about their bodies, medicine and university life.

They were introduced to character Professor Fluffy who set them a medical challenge to complete throughout the day.

Pupils were split into teams for the challenge - Lucky Lungs, Healthy Hearts, Cool Kidneys, Super Stomachs and Brilliant Brains.

Student Ambassadors, all of whom are studying for degrees in medicine, worked with the schoolchildren.

After completing the tasks, the pupils were given the opportunity to pose for a graduation photo dressed in cap and gown.

Caroline Knight, University of Sheffield outreach officer, said: "The aim of Professor Fluffy's Medical Adventure is to introduce the idea of Higher Education and what it is all about at an earlier age.

"By offering a fun-packed activity programme, a tour and introducing them to role models we hope to inspire the children and encourage them to think about their dreams and how they can achieve them."

Professor Fluffy's Medical Adventure is part of an Aimhigher Primary Project that works with Year 5 pupils to raise awareness of higher education through a range of interactive activities.
