A SHEFFIELD company has been making tracks to help children at a city school.
But assistance has not been in the classroom - it took in the form of a £30,000 BMX track to help keep pupils keep active and healthy.
The track has been installed at Valley Park Primary School, Herdings. It includes innovative uses for recycled materials, such as seats made from old tyres and surfacing from quarry waste.
The project has been completed by Veolia, Sheffield Council's waste contractor, as part of the Business in the Community Initiative.
Alan Woodman, headteacher at Valley Park, said: "Cycling is something that appeals to many children in the school regardless of age and gender so it's a fantastic way of encouraging children to be healthier.
"The use of recycled materials has also helped encourage recycling and waste awareness in the classroom."
Andrew Graham, of Veolia, said: "It is great to be able to carry out a project that will benefit our local community."
