LITTLE Joshua Riley has raised over £100 for St Luke's hospice by planning and completing his own sponsored walk.
The ten-year-old walked 1.3 miles in memory of family friend Lesley Burrows, 43, who was treated at the Whirlow-based hospice before she died.

Joshua planned the route near his Stocksbridge home and walked with his mum Mandy Flood, 48.

Mandy and Lesley were good friends who worked on the Huntsman 5 ward at the Northern General Hospital.

Friends sponsored Josh and Mandy and she held a raffle among colleagues which added another £50 to the total.

I was amazed and delighted by Joshua's commitment to raise money," said Mandy.

"St Luke's is such a great charity and I'm sure it cost much more than £150 to care for Lesley while she was in there. It is really nice to be able to give something back to the hospice."

She added: "I believe doing something like this really helps young people to understand that it is not just all take in life, you should give something back."
