PUPILS are in print at a Sheffield junior school after their stories were collected together for a book.
Little Book Of Heroes is a collection of tales written by all 12 classes at Hunters Bar Juniors on Sharrowvale Road.
Each class thought out and jointly wrote a story, which was typed up and sent to Grosvenor House Publishing.
They typeset and printed the book, which is now available for sale to the school's parents
Assistant head Helen Walton said the book was part of a school-wide project to make literacy work appeal to the children.
She added: "Staff worked hard to help the children conjure up some varied story lines." Year five pupils visited the Botanical Gardens and collected items left there by staff, then used the "evidence" to create a story.
Year six pupils meanwhile used a landmark in local history - the crash of World War Two bomber Mi Amigo in Endcliffe Park - as inspiration.
Mrs Walton said: "In every year group we designed the story as a class, and groups of children wrote individual chapters of the stories."
So why is the collection of stories called Little Book of Heroes?
Mrs Walton told The Star: "That's what the children chose. There are heroes in the book and the children are our heroes - they created the book."
