HAPPY hostelling has won a Sheffield primary a special award - the first in the country to receive one.
Children at Meynell Primary in Parson Cross visit the Peak District every year on residential trips, and the children always stay in youth hostels.

Now the school has received recognition from the Youth Hostel Association as regular users of their Break For Kids initiative.

Headteacher Colleen Carroll said: "Break For Kids is an excellent idea as it allows us to book places at a hostel with a percentage knocked off the usual price - which means we can take more pupils than we otherwise could.

"We've been going each year for at least the last six years, most recently to Castleton and Bakewell. This year 30 children went to Castleton and they had a great time.

"It's a chance to get involved in activities which fit in with our curriculum, to enjoy the countryside and just live all together. It's an important part of our school year."
