THE number of Sheffield children taking advantage of free cycle training is set to increase after the city received a £60,000 grant.
The award, one of the largest given to any council in England, has been made by Cycle England, a national organisation which aims to increase the number of people travelling by bicycle.

d Council can now afford to provide courses to up to 1,500 youngsters aged nine to 11. Sessions are available through schools or at Norfolk Park on Saturdays from 10am to midday.
Children taking part complete Bikeability training courses - the modern equivalent of a cycling proficiency test.
Adults are also offered free two-hour training classes.
Coun Bryan Lodge, cabinet member for transport and streetscene, said: "For a number of years, Sheffield Council has offered free cycle training sessions for adults and children alike. The grant from Cycle England allows us to extend this further."
