A MONSTER-SIZED treat awaits Sheffield shoppers with plans to let this T-Rex loose on families next week in Meadowhall.

The terrifying meat eater, with gnashing jaws and slashing claws, was once the king of the prehistoric jungle.

But the 7ft tall, 3ft wide and 16ft long creature coming to Sheffield is just a baby replica.

And it won’t be eating up any dino fans who want to say hello.

It’s mother, which is more than three times as big, is the huge star of Walking with Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular, which returns to Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on March 28 to April 1.

The show features 20 life-size robotic and puppet controlled dinosaurs, which walk and roar, as their 200 million year story is told again.

The baby T-Rex visit, part of a promotional tour, will call at Meadowhall, outside Thomas Cook and Barratts, on Wednesday, March 13, from 1pm to 1.30pm.

Brave shoppers are being encouraged to turn up and also get a chance to win one of 20 family tickets of fourm plus lots of official merchandise , by answering a selection of fun, easy to answer questions.

“The Baby T-Rex from our Walking with Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular show is set to light up the faces of another generation of budding palaeontologists,’’ said a spokeswoman,

“Shoppers and families will get the chance to interact with a life-size replica of a real dinosaur that walked the planet millions of years ago.”
