Merlin and One Foot in the Grave star Richard Wilson has been an associate director at Sheffield Theatres for five years – but this is his first time on stage in the city.
He is appearing at the Crucible Studio in one-man show Krapp’s Last Tape, which ends its run this Saturday, July 19.
The darkly funny play, written by Samuel Beckett, finds Krapp all alone in his office hideaway on his 69th birthday, musing on life, love and death.
The Star’s theatre writer Julia Armstrong was allowed special access to the set to talk to Richard about why the show leaves him in a bit of a spin – and why it’s putting him off bananas.
