FILM and theatre legend Francesca Annis leads a starry cast for the Crucible’s Christmas musical, Company.

The veteran actress has appeared on the big screen in a range of movies from Revolver, The Libertine, Milk and sci-fi epic Dune to The Eyes of Annie Jones, Saturday Night Out and Cleopatra, as well as handling numerous West End roles.

In the Crucible’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s classic, she will play Joanne alongside David Birrell playing David, while Sheffield Theatres artistic director Daniel Evans, currently directing Crucible hit Othello, takes the lead role of Robert, the commitment-phobic bachelor whose well-meaning married friends think it’s time he settled down.

The show opens on November 29.
