The Dragon Lover, The Fat Cat

“The horse you ride is like a mountain, the clothes you wear burn like fire…”

Welcome to a world of dangerous delights where shapes shift and dragons dwell.

But some dragons wear their skins on the inside and they lure you into a realm of sweet seduction, magical enchantment and fatal attraction.

This story is presented by A Spell in Time, who are a British-Bulgarian storytelling and performance company, bringing Bulgaria’s extraordinary myths and traditional tales to English-speaking audiences for the first time.

Company director Moni Sheehan said: “The Bulgarian dragon, the zmey, is nothing like Sheffield’s Wantley dragon.

“He’s a mysterious beastie who walks among us, though he’s hard to spot when he wears his dragon skin on the inside.

“He is also a guardian of fertility and the land would not blossom without him.”

Storyteller Moni appears alongside musician Ivor Davies.

The “deliciously dark” performance is intended for adults and not recommended for children under 12.

The show is at 8pm tonight at Story Forge in The Fat Cat pub Alma Street, Kelham Island, Sheffield.

Tickets are £4 on the door.

There will be another performance tomorrow at 7.30pm at the To The Lighthouse Café, Bank Street Arts, 32-40 Bank Street, Sheffield city centre.

Tickets are £5 on the door.
