VALENTINE’S Day couple Rachael Colley and Paul Turner have plenty to sing and dance about after winning The Star’s romantic trip to tonight’s opening of hit musical Legally Blonde.

The happy couple get Lyceum Theatre tickets, including pre-show dinner at Crucible Corner in Tudor Square and an overnight stay, with champagne breakfast in bed, at the Leopold Hotel.

Dental nurse Rachael, aged 28, has plenty to smile about - she also gets a Dior counter makeover at John Lewis and flowers from Monica F Hewitt.

And it really was a case of ‘pull-the-other’ from engineer Paul, 32, when she had to convince him they had won first prize in the competition organised by The Star, in association with Sheffield Theatres and city centre partners.

The Sheffield couple’s usual Valentine’s night celebration is a meal in watching a DVD.

But now they’ll celebrate out in style and have got relatives to babysit their 18-month-old son, Samuel.

It will be the couple’s first ever theatre date - though Rachael admits she planned to take her mum if she won just runner-up tickets.

“We’ve never won anything before and I had an idea to take my mum if I won only tickets. But when I was told I’d won first prize, well I couldn’t take her then,” she laughed.

“This is just a perfect Valentine’s night out for Paul and me.”

Runners-up, who get a pair of tickets each, are Rebecca Hill and Ashley Barlow, both of Sheffield.

Legally Blonde – The Musical make its debut tonight at the Lyceum and runs to Saturday, February 25.

n Tickets are £22 to £42, with discounts available. Buy in person at Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office, call 0114 249 6000 or visit sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
