Rotherham Teachers Operatic Society are to stage a production of Jesus Christ Superstar to celebrate their centenary show.

The Society, which was founded in 1913, will stage the production from November 11 to 16 at Rotherham Civic Theatre.

Coincidentally, a former member of the society’s junior arm Rotherham Teachers’ Student Academy, Dominic Tribuzio, is currently touring in the record breaking professional show.

Dominic, whose family still live in Rotherham, is currently in the cast of the Australia and UK arena tour, performing alongside Tim Minchin, Melanie Chisholm, Chris Moyles and Ben Forster.

Dominic feels Jesus Christ Superstar is a perfect choice for the 100th show.

He said: “It’s one of the greatest stories ever told, all set to fabulous Lloyd Webber music. It’s a theatrical phenomenon which moves the audience so much as it journeys through the last seven days of the life of Jesus.”

He added: “Best of luck to all the cast and crew of Jesus Christ Superstar.

“I hope they have a lovely amazing time with this fabulous show…. and go out there and absolutely smash it!”
