South Yorkshire’s Robin Hood airport has teamed up with Sheffield Theatres as an aviation-themed play lands in the city.

The Finningley airport and holiday firm Thomson have joined forces to sponsor the forthcoming production of Boeing Boeing at the Crucible.

The play, which takes off on Thursday, May 15, and reaches the end of its journey on Saturday, June 7, is a comedy following the story of bachelor Bernard.

His air hostess fiancée turns up at his apartment on an unscheduled stopover – unaware his two other girlfriends have the same idea.

Steve Gill, from the airport, said: “As a regional airport we are developing key strategic partnerships with local organisations and the theme of this production, albeit tongue in cheek, gave us a great reason to work with Sheffield Theatres.”
