The show did go on for the cast of Cinderella at Brunswick Gardens Retirement Village in Woodhouse, Sheffield.

A spate of illness meant the show had to be postponed over the Christmas period but the Brunswick Luvvies finally made it to the stage a few weeks later.

The script was written by Bernice Needham, who also played Cinderella’s stepmother.

Sam Czajka, activities assistant at the Village, said: “It’s something they do themselves and they all work really hard on it.

“They write it, direct it, and they have someone to do every job such as prompting and doing the curtains.

“It was very entertaining and we’re really proud of them.”
