You may be basking in South Yorkshire’s intermittent sunshine and enjoying the football, but at the Lyceum they are in panto mode already.
This year’s pantomime is Dick Whittington and the show’s stars gathered in Sheffield yesterday to officially launch the Lyceum’s Christmas extravaganza.
This year’s sponsors are East Midlands Trains, so much-loved Dame Damian Williams, EastEnders star Samantha Womack, CBeebies favourite Andy Day and other cast members visited Sheffield railway station.
The actors certainly turned many passengers’ heads as they trooped through the station concourse and on to one of the platforms in full costume!
Damian Williams, who will play Sarah the cook, said: “It’s a really good story that’s got a lot of comedy in it.
“It’s always been my favourite pantomime so I was pleased when the producer Paul Hendy said they were going to do it.”
The show runs from December 5 to January 4.
Meanwhile in Rotherham, Mark Labbett, better known as The Beast on ITV game show The Chase, has been snapped up to star as the evil Abanazar in this year’s Civic Theatre production, Aladdin.
