Students are mixing Shakespeare with sci-fi as they put the finishing touches to their latest school production.

Young actors at Trinty Academy, Thorne, are staging Return to the Forbidden Planet in a three-night run from tomorrow.

Written by Bob Carlton, the play is a musical based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the 1950s film Forbidden Planet, brought to life with a host of classic rock and roll songs.

The high energy plot follows the crew of scientific survey flight nine, whose spaceship gets caught up in a meteor shower and is drawn to the mysterious planet D’Illyria.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Tickets cost £5 adults and £3 concessions and are available from the school.
