Olivia! Lamproom Theatre Barnsley
The Lamplyters, who are young actors and actresses aged five to 11, present a family musical, set in Victorian times, based very loosely on the story of Oliver Twist.
Olivia is a downtrodden orphan who runs away and eventually becomes a star of the stage.
On her journey to the bright lights of London, Olivia is befriended by Eliza Dolittle from My Fair Lady.
After a series of adventures she becomes a singer in a new Gilbert and Sullivan show, thanks to the unlikely assistance of Fagin and the Artful Dodger.
The Lamplyters is a musical theatre performance group for children of primary school age.
It is organised and led by experienced professional actors, directors and choreographers, husband and wife team Pete and Julie Foster.
Lamplyters meet on Fridays from 6pm to 7.15pm at Jaybee Theatre School, Unit 35a Claycliffe Business Park, Cannon Way, Barugh Green, Barnsley.
They are part of LYTE (Lamproom Youth Theatre Ensemble), a drama group for young people aged from 11 to 21, serving Barnsley and the surrounding areas.
LYTE aims to give young people an opportunity to experience all aspects of theatre production and performance in a friendly and supportive environment.
The group aims to deliver two shows a year and are presentl;y working on their panto.
They meet weekly at the Polish Club in Summer Lane, Barnsley.
Olivia! runs from tomorrow to Saturday , June 29 at 7.15 pm.
