Its £2 million refurbishment is complete – but more changes are on the way at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre to thank sponsors who helped fund the work.

A five-year partnership with Neil MacDonald and Graham Royle, city businessmen and supporters of the theatre, will lead to the Hepworth Room being renamed the MacDonald Room, while the stalls bar will become the GRI Bar and the circle bar the Royle Bar.

In a further agreement, Sheffield University has signed a three-year deal to sponsor the theatre’s safety curtain. It means the university’s logo will be displayed below the curtain’s familiar painted design, which stays unchanged.

The revamp has included installation of a new sound system and LED lighting, as well as better toilets and cloakroom.
