Move over Charlie Bucket - lucky Kayleigh Chapman from Brinsworth in Rotherham is the winner of a ‘golden ticket’ work placement on London musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Kayleigh is one of five students, shortlisted from over 600 who applied online, to be offered a week-long paid work placement on the seven-time Olivier award-nominated musical based on Roald Dahl’s book.
The winners will spend time with the lighting, sound, automation, wardrobe, wigs, make-up and stage management departments - and, at the end of this week, the most promising candidate will be rewarded with a three-month paid placement as production intern on the show.
Josh Berger of Warner Bros said: “We are delighted that with our first UK stage production, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we are able to offer five talented people invaluable insight and experience in to this record-breaking musical and, we hope, their first step towards a career in theatre production.”
The cast includes Douglas Hodge and Nigel Planer, directed by Sam Mendes, at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, booking until May 2015.
