Dick Whittington may have only just taken to the stage in Sheffield – but thoughts have already turned to next year’s pantomime.
Dick only started its run on Friday, but Sheffield Theatres has now announced next year’s festive family favourite will be Aladdin.
And the team behind recent Lyceum pantos –including this year’s Dick – will be reunited for the show, with Paul Hendy returning to write and direct and Damian Williams returning to star.
A Sheffield Theatres spokesman said: “Sheffield panto legend Damian Williams returns to play the Dame in next year’s festive family treat, written and directed by Paul Hendy.
“The show tells the story of young peasant boy, Aladdin, who tries to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Jasmine, with a little help from the Genie of the Lamp.
“With stunning sets, glittering costumes, brilliant sing-along songs, hilarious characters and topped off with laughter and audience participation aplenty, Aladdin promises to delight audiences of all ages and is the perfect Christmas treat.”
The show will run until Sunday, January 3, 2016.
It will be the second time Damian and Paul have worked on Aladdin in Sheffield, after putting on the show six years ago, starring actor Phil Daniels.
Other pantos the pair have staged in Sheffield included Snow White, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk.
Tickets for Aladdin are now on sale, from 0114 2496000 or www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
Tickets are priced from £10 – with prices frozen at 2014 rates until Saturday, February 28.
