A talented team of youngsters have brought a magical musical to the stage.
The Wizard of Oz, to be staged in Thurgoland, near Sheffield, has been created entirely by youngsters aged from eight to 17.
Youngsters in the Thurgoland Thespian Junior section have chosen the script, co-ordinated rehearsals, created costumes, advertising, ticket sales and the performances.
Sarah Hayter, aged 15, director of the play, said: “The play is based on the same story as the musical made famous by Judy Garland in 1939, but this is not the musical version although there is some music in it.
“Written by Alfred Bradley, this play is a closer adaptation of the classic children’s novel written by the American children’s author Frank Baum in 1900 and we rely heavily on character acting to bring each of the roles to life.”
The only adult involvement has been creating scenery.
Three shows will be held at Thurgoland Village Hall on Thursday October 3, Friday October 4 and Saturday October 5.
