Art fans with more class than brass are in for a treat at the Cupola Gallery’s annual Under The Bed sale.
The popular sale features work which tends to be older or no longer favoured by the artists – meaning a bargain can be bought for as little as 50p.
Cupola Gallery’s managing director, Karen Sherwood, said: “The gallery has lost count of how many Under The Bed sales it has hosted but as it is now such a popular feature on the gallery calendar, there may just be a riot if we decided not to host it.
“We hope to see lots of people there to enjoy a rummage and hopefully bag a bargain.”
Over 1,000 pieces of work including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photos, ceramics and jewellery will be on display and up for sale for a maximum of £300.
Artists who have contributed to the sale include painter Paul Evans, photographer Virginia Lowes, glass maker Hazel Burnham, print maker Jessie Lee, ceramicist Ann Bates and textile artist Jen Mick.
The exhibition is open now and will run until February 1. The official launch is on Friday from 7.30pm.
The gallery, on Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
