Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena was the 18th busiest arena in the world last year.
The venue was ranked at number 18 in Pollstar Magazine’s Year End Worldwide Ticket Sales Top 200 Venue List.
It sold more than 500,000 tickets in 2013 – which bosses say is a great result considering the venue was closed for over two months for a multi-million pound refurbishment.
General manager Rob O’Shea said: “We are proud to be recognised as a Top 200 Venue in the World.
“It is no mean feat to be the 18th busiest arena in the world in the same year that we were closed for a significant period in order to undertake a major improvement project.
“This highlights once again that Sheffield is a successful market for world class entertainment.”
The list also revealed the Motorpoint hosted 10 of the world’s top 100 touring shows in 2013 and Live Nation, which manages the venue, was named the world’s top concert promoter.
Events at the Motorpoint in 2014 include Disney on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing Live, Miranda Hart, Cirque du Soleil, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Gary Barlow, WWE, John Bishop and Katy Perry.
