THREE-year-old Bruce Warrender was among the first youngsters in the borough to try out a newly-refurbished Doncaster play area.
He was among children from the Small World Day Nursery invited to enjoy the newly revamped facilities at Hatfield Water Park.
The new-look park has slides, tunnels and climbing frames.
The original park was fitted about 15 years ago as an activity area for children aged eight and under who were too young for the main Hatfield activity programme.
But it started to look shabby and rundown and money was spent on improving it.
Civic mayor Coun Ken Knight officially opened the playground.
He said: “Everyone should be proud of the wonderful work that has taken place to transform the park.
“It really has taken on a new lease of life and the finished results are a joy to behold.
“The new look park is bright, colourful and modern.
“I’m sure it won’t be long before it becomes a hive of activity and popular trip out for local children and their families.”
