You’d be crazy to miss big musical opportunities

Have your say

budding dancers and singers are wanted to star in the latest musical to be performed by Doncaster Amateur Operatic Society

They are presenting Crazy For You at Doncaster Civic Theatre from Tuesday, February 28, to Saturday, March 3, next year which will be their last production there before it closes and is replaced by the new performance venue due to open in 2013.

The Society is holding open auditions for anyone interested in taking part in the production which will be held on Sunday, September 4, at a time and venue to be confirmed.

But before that there is a chance to meet the production team, director Ian Coley and musical director Simon Corner at two pre-audition meetings at the Methodist Church, Greens Road, Dunsville. The first of these will take place on Thursday, August 25, followed by the second on Thursday, September 1, at 7.30pm.

The cast for Crazy For You requires lots of men and at least eight youngish female dancers, as well as the principal roles and the chorus.

The Society promises a ‘fabulous show with high energy comedy and includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music’.

“The Society is always eager to try something new and encourage new talent,” said Mr Coley, who can be contacted on 07885 351519.

“Doncaster has lots of musical and dancing talent in the town and we are hoping this show will attract many from the town’s local dancing and drama schools to the open auditions.”

George and Ira Gershwin’s hit musical comedy is packed full of classic songs including I Got Rhythm and Someone to Watch Over Me.
