Uncle Sam’s Great American Circus is in town.
They have put up their big top near Doncaster Racecourse until Sunday and crowds are already flocking to see a range of acts from the Americas.
Ringmaster Matthew Wingate told The Star: “This is our fourth year in a row in Doncaster and we always get a good reception.
“We only opened on Friday and got really good houses over the weekend.”
Uncle Sam’s has been touring Britain for 25 years and specialises in daredevil and comedy acts. One of the highlights of the show are Duo Garcia, who send a lifesize rocket into the big top before carrying out their daring trapeze act beneath it.
Another star act are the Los Marinos, from Columbia, whose high wire routine involves one man riding on the shoulders of the other.
The Globe of Death features two motorbike riders racing round a giant ‘hamster ball’ at speeds of up to 60mph.
One of the highlights of the two hour show for children are special guest appearances by the characters from the Toy Story movies.Uncle Sam’s Great American Circus performs twice a day, with shows at 5pm and 7.30pm until Friday, 2.30pm and 6pm on Saturday and 2pm and 4.30pm on Sunday before they head for Barnsley.
