SHEFFIELD’S new local television channel licence has been awarded by industry regulator Ofcom.
Sheffield Local Television Ltd, the winner of four organisations competing for the licence, will broadcast under the name SLTV/Sheffield Live.
In a statement, SLTV said: “A huge thanks to everyone who has supported us to win the licence for Sheffield.”
The channel aims to ‘serves the public interest in local news, information, education and entertainment and offer a platform for local talent and creative expression’.
Its bid was supported by Community Media Solutions Ltd, a Sheffield-based media development agency, and Cultural Industries Quarter Agency, an development organisation with a focus on creative and digital industries.
