IT may be midsummer - but panto preparations at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre are already moving apace.
Former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard - who played Rovers’ landlady Liz McDonald - is to play the Wicked Queen in this year’s production of Sleeping Beauty.
The show will run from December 9 until January 8 and she will be joined by CBeebies presenter Sid Sloane, who will play the Jester, and panto dame Damian Williams who will play the part of Nurse Nellie.
Prince Charming will be played by Jo Parsons while the role of the Princess will be taken by Charlotte Robinson.
The panto will be produced by the team who were behind last year’s successful show, Peter Pan, and the theatre is promising ‘a family-friendly entertainment which will be full of humour’.
Producer Paul Hendy, a former children’s TV and game show presenter will write and direct the show with his wife Emily Wood.
Tickets are already on sale priced between £10 and £22.
