A VOLUNTEER who helped to make the Olympic Games has joined the race for the coveted Christmas number one spot.
Richard Batterby, of Hackenthorpe, Sheffield, has lent his vocal talents to the Games Maker Choir’s I Wish You For The World. The single, by the all-volunteer group formed following London 2012, was released in a bid to propel it to the top of the charts in time for Christmas.
But Richard faces stiff competition in the form of X Factor winner James Arthur and the Justice Collective’s He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother in memory of Hillsborough victims.
The single, written by Alistair Griffin, has been backed by London Mayor Boris Johnson and former Olympics minister Dame Tessa Jowell.
