Organisers of a Sheffield fun day have praised visitors who helped raise hundreds of pounds toward future events.
A licensed street collection was held at the entrance to the free Beighton Gala in July, appealing for donations toward running costs.
Steve Edmonds, one of the gala organisers and manager of Beighton Village Trust, said: “We collected a fantastic £1871.74 from the generous people of Beighton and didn’t incur any costs or expenses, with every penny collected going to the benefit of Beighton Funday.”
More than 10,000 visitors flocked to the event, to enjoy a parade, stalls and funfair rides.
There were also displays and demonstrations among many other attractions, as well as the welcome return of donkey rides which had been banned the previous year following a licensing row.
