A Sheffield estate agent has made it through to the next round of the X Factor despite being rejected by judges.

Holly Johnson was originally given the boot by judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Rita Ora in Sunday evening’s episode of the ITV show.

Her rendition of Sam Smith’s hit Like I Can failed to impress Simon and he told Rita and Cheryl that he believed Holly lacked personality.

At the end of the show Holly was called into a room and told she would take no further part in the show and had not made it through to the Six Chair Challenge.

But they soon realised they had made a mistake after Rita told Simon she believed they had made an error of judgement and the X Factor boss agreed.

They called Holly back in and told her they had made an error in judgement and that she had made it into the next round.

Cowell told her: “We made a mistake, so it’s a yes.”

She joins 63 other acts, who will next find themselves whittled down further for the Judges’ Houses round of the competition.
