YOU’VE got to pick a pocket or two! Characters from the work of Charles Dickens will be roaming the streets at a Sheffield museum during its Christmas festivities.
Kelham Island Museum’s Victorian Christmas Market is next weekend, December 3 and 4, with a host of traditional attractions from the bygone era.
Dickensian characters, including devious pickpocket Fagin from Oliver Twist, will be meeting visitors as they browse over 100 stalls selling treats such as mulled wine, hot chestnuts, and a wide range of seasonal gifts.
Entertainment with a Victorian twist will be on offer, including a helter-skelter, a mirror maze and a carousel.
Musicians, singers, brass bands and performance artists will be entertaining crowds and children can visit Father Christmas in his workshop.
Niki Connelly, events and marketing officer at Kelham Island Museum, said the market will be ‘bigger and better than ever before’.
The market is from 10am to 7pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission £5 adults, children free.
