THINK again about our pensions.
That was the message from University of Sheffield staff when groups of 15 workers took turns during breaks to lobby a two-hour meeting of the university’s council.
They are urging members to scrap changes to pensions which they say will put lowest paid workers in poverty after retirement.
University bosses, who met at the Arts Tower, maintain the changes from the former University of Sheffield Pension Scheme to the new cash balance option are necessary to keep the scheme sustainable.
Unison branch secretary Stuart Anderson said: “I am pleased at the number of people who turned out.”
