SOUTH Yorkshire Ashes To Ashes TV star Dean Andrews is getting on his bike for charity - after a request for help from Robbie Williams’s dad.
Dean, who has known the family for years, was invited to take part in a John O’Groats to Land’s End ride after Tweeting he had been given a bike.
Dean, who played Ray Carling in the hit television series, starts the 960-mile relay tomorrow in an On Yer Bike Challenge for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Robbie’s home city of Stoke-on-Trent.
He is due to finish on Friday - and then he is back on his bike with another charity ride, for Leukaemia Research in Manchester on Monday.
Rotherham-born Dean, who now lives in Barnsley, said: “It’s my fault for telling everyone on Twitter that I got a bike.
“I’ve known Robbie since he was 14 and his dad, Pete Conway, from when we used to sing in the clubs. Pete is involved in the hospice and asked me to help.”
Others taking part include TV comedian Nick Hancock, Stoke City manager Tony Pulis, BBC 5 Live’s Mark Chapman and fashion designer Jeff Banks.
