Tree bashing event planned

Have your say

A ‘BIRCH bash’ is to be held in Wharncliffe, Sheffield, to help prevent heathland being overrun with birch trees.

The Wharncliffe Heathlands Trust is running the event at 11am on Sunday, September 9.

Those wishing to take part should meet at the River Don bridge on Station Road, Deepcar.

Birch seedlings need controlling because they can invade open heathland, turning it into woodland.
