THE official line up has been announced for Sheffield’s Tramlines festival - and organisers are promising this year’s event will be bigger and better.

The festival will be taking place at more than 70 venues across the city, and thousands of music lovers are expected to attend over three days from July 20 to 22.

Confirmed to headline the main stage are rapper Roots Manuva and indie group We Are Scientists, along with Ms Dynamite, Field Music, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Beth Jeans Houghton, Chew Lips, Charli XCX and Clock Opera.

The alternative stage in Barker’s Pool boasts 65daysofstatic, Rolo Tomassi, Future Of The Left, Esben and the Witch, Mazes and Frankie Rose.

Tramlines’ dance offering has been expanded for 2012, taking over two rooms at Sheffield University, and Steel City DJ and producer Toddla T is curating the main stage on the Saturday night.

Cornell Campbell & Top Cat with Soothsayers Band, and Rafiki Jazz will headline the world music stage in the Peace Gardens, and James Yorkston will play the ‘folk forest’ at Endcliffe Park.

Acts such as Spector, Mr Scruff, Wild Palms and TOY will be playing at participating Sheffield venues.
