SHEFFIELD newsagent Tony Woollas’ weeks are so manic he does not often get the chance to sit back, relax and read the paper.
But he makes sure his customers do not miss out on The Star at the cheapest price – by encouraging them to subscribe.
And a new deal on offer just in January means readers can clinch the bargain 25 per cent off, plus a free £15 Frankie & Benny’s voucher, if they subscribe for a year.
The deal means The Star costs only £2.70 a week.
Tony – who has run Ironbridge News, Retford Road, Woodhouse, for 13 years as a real family affair, with wife Chris as well as his daughter – has signed up several readers to the money-saving scheme so far.
He said: “We’ve always stocked The Star.
“But we’ve had quite a few customers we’ve convinced to subscribe, because it works out cheaper for them.
“Sometimes people are a bit worried about the direct debit side of it, but about three or four of those did eventually sign up because of the money they’d save. It’s an unbeatable deal really.”
When readers sign up for a six-day subscription to The Star they can save 25 per cent on the normal daily cover price, getting all the latest news, sport, features, and much more from across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire – but for less.
Tony said: “We get The Star on a Saturday because we get more time to read it.
“We like the section where they do the walks – I’m saving them up for when we retire.”
