It was all done very discreetly: Her hand lightly on the arm, the direct look, the faintest flicker of her eyelashes and a half-smile on her lips.

It won over Dermot Cory, aged 59. “I looked like voting Labour this time but her visit has chamged my mind. I#ll be voting Tory,” he said.

She also descended on a supermarket in Penistone.

The Press swarmed around her as she toured the aisles, commenting on the prices. She ‘bought’ a few items but when she got to the checkout she had no money, just like the Queen.
