RENTAL properties in South Yorkshire are being snapped up in an average of just five days, according to a lettings agent.

Blundells also said figures showed tenant demand increased by 10.8 per cent nationwide last quarter when compared to the same period last year.

Branch manager William Thompson said there had been a hike in demand since the beginning in 2011 and it was expected to continue as first-time buyers struggled to save deposits.

He added: “The postcode areas of S10, S11, S20 and S8 remain popular with tenants and investors alike with all types of houses in high demand from young families and young professionals.”

The statistics came from research conducted by Blundells’ operator Countrywide.
