Sheffield’s London Road is takeaway central so I’m always tempted to try somewhere new.
With this in mind I placed an order at Hong Kong Wok, a Chinese restaurant/takeaway along the crowded strip.
Timings were prompt and we tucked into a starter platter of prawn toast, spring rolls, satay chicken skewers and ribs. All were tasty, individual flavours and good quality meat.
Mains of egg fried rice, chicken in Szechwan sauce and chips, however, was a disappointment compared to what we had just consumed. There was a layer of oil sitting on top of the main dish which had a strong aroma of onions – and tasted like them too. The chips were limp and anaemic looking.
The bill seemed a bit steep at £24.80.
